GTC EATS! is our Farm Share (also known as a CSA, which stands for Community Supported Agriculture). This program brings healthy, fresh food grown without any chemicals or pesticides to families and elders in our community.
We are excited to offer a 16 week long winter share from December 4 through April 1 so families can continue to enjoy fresh, affordable produce all winter long. Shares will include approximately a half bushel of produce sourced from local farms when possible, and other regions of the US as needed. The share will likely include the following: 1 winter green (such as cabbage, lettuce, kale), 1 herb, onions, 1 variety of winter root crops (such as beets, potatoes, turnips and radishes), garlic, squash, carrots and a special item (such as fruit, dried beans, etc). Items will vary week to week based on what is available from local farms, and we may need to go outside the region depending on availability. Pick ups will happen every week, except for the weeks of Dec. 23 and Dec. 30 when the store will be closed. Pickups will happen on Wednesdays from 1 - 6:30 pm and Thursdays from 10 am - 6:30 pm ONLY.
TYPES OF SHARES
We have 2 different kinds of shares types available to you over the winter.
The GTC EATS! Market Style Share is a great opportunity for you to connect with the produce you’ll bring home for the week. You come to our Walnut Street Farm on Wednesdays from 1pm - 6:30 pm (200 Walnut St. Spfld, MA 01105). The produce will be displayed like a market, and you will be able to pick out the produce. An additional benefit of coming on Wednesdays is that we often have cooking demonstrations or tastings that day, and you are can purchase additional items at the Farm Store.
The GTC EATS! ‘Boxed To Go Share’ is available on Thursdays from 10 am - 6:30 pm at the GTC Farm Store (200 Walnut St. Spfld, MA 01105). This is for members who do not have the time to pick up on Wednesday. Your share will pre-packed for you according to the share distribution list.
WINTER SHARE PRICES AND TYPES
We have just one size over the winter - our Hoop City Half Share size which is about a 1/2 bushel of produce valued at $20 or more.
Shares are priced at $20/week or $320 for the season.
* For low income families we are able to offer a special subsidized share for $10/week or $160 for the season. - only 10 shares available, first come first served.
* For low income seniors (60 and over) we are able to offer a special subsidized share for just $5/week or $80 for the season - only 14 shares available, first come first served.

You can sign up for the entire 16 week season or sign up month to month. Full Season Members are with us for the full season! You will automatically get a share for all 16 weeks. If you have to miss a week you must communicate with the GTC EATS! Manager at least one week in advance so you won’t be charged. Monthly Members sign up for one month at a time. Payments vary based on the number of Wednesdays in each month/
Members pick up their shares at GTC’s Walnut St Farm (200 Walnut St) on Wednesdays from 1pm to 6:30 pm for a market style share, or on Thursdays from 10 am - 6:30 pm for a boxed share that is ready to go. We have free parking right behind the farm store!
All share members must pay $20 to reserve your place. We will apply this deposit to your last month's share payment. If this a hardship for you, please let us know and we will work something out. If you are able to pay for the whole season, we are very grateful as it greatly reduces our workload. If you pay in full, there is no $20 deposit needed. We accept payment in the form of cash, check, SNAP and credit/debit card. You can pay on line when you sign up if you wish, or stop by the farm store to pay as well. Payments via SNAP must be made in person at the farm store. Payments via cash or check can be made at the farm store or mailed to GTC PO Box 90774 Springfield, MA 01139. Payments with your credit or debit card can be made on line or at the store.
For people using SNAP benefits to pay, you can arrange to have your payment withdrawn automatically from your SNAP/EBT account at the beginning of each month on the day your benefit comes in.
At this time, all payments made with SNAP qualify for the HIP (Healthy Incentives Program) rebate, meaning that if you use your SNAP card to purchase your share you will automatically get $40-$80 MORE IN BENEFITS back onto your EBT card depending on your family size! Pretty amazing!!
